Archiving solution for Lotus Notes/Domino
Sooner or later, every company must cope with the problem of data amount increase. E-mail correspondence and its bulky attachments are usually the most responsible for this fact. It doesn’t only occupy disk space but also increases backup costs and limits the users’ work efficiency by degraded orientation in the great masses of data and lower computer performance.
One method to fight this trend is to start archiving.

Lotus Notes offer built-in archiving system, but IBM websites and discussion forums show many complaints and problems reported by users and administrators. Whitesoft decided to produce and offer its own solution – ArchiWhite.

How it works?
ArchiWhite is a powerful application designed to perform archiving tasks in the Lotus Notes/Domino environment. It is independent on the source database and therefore can archive documents in mailboxes, libraries, discussion forums, directories and other types of databases.
ArchiWhite supports multi-server environment. The source database, archive, and the process launching the archiving can be located at different servers. Thanks to this fact, the archiving of all the databases on all the company servers can be controlled from one point, which means considerable savings on administration costs.
Another advantage of ArchiWhite, compared to the IBM solution, is the possibility to archive documents partially – the source database keeps only a torso of the document with desired fields and the rest (e. g. body with attachments) is moved to archive. The archived document can be opened by clicking a link and restored into its original location by just one command.
Unlike in the IBM archiving solution, the criteria for the selection of documents can be defined rather arbitrarily, since it uses @formulas.
ArchiWhite thus offers virtually unlimited potential not only for archiving, but also for backup, automatic document sorting and similar operations.
Let us recapitulate the advantages of ArchiWhite application:
- independence from the source database
- multi-server environment support – one-point control
- possibility to archive documents partially
- one-command document restore function
- possibility to define selection criteria by @formulas
- a multi-purpose solution: archiving, backup, automatic data sorting etc.
